Mayor Mick Cornett announced on December 31, 2007 that he would be launching an initiative to encourage the city to lose one million pounds in 2008. Inspired by his own weight loss of over 40 pounds, Mayor Cornett went went on the Ellen DeGeneres Show to talk about the program in January of 2008.
